Ok borda, you amazing Romanian painter you. I will give you my first Deviant critique. You deserve it. :)

My initial reaction to this painting was a calm one; serene and relaxed. My eyes made no sudden movements across the art to scan for minor details; my eyes just took the painting in, calmly.

Until...

HOLY CRAP! Those rain drops are painted?? (XoX)

It hit me like an egg to a frying pan and I still couldn't believe my eyes. At first when I saw the painting I thought maybe you dripped water over the canvas before you took the picture. That's how real it looked to me. Amazing. The drops are SO well done, they fooled me for real ones.
Very well done.

After the inital and lingering astonishment of the water droplets I started to analyze the rest of the picture more carefully.

The woman figure in the middle is lit up particularly well, making her the immediate focus of my attention. Of this character specifically I noticed that it took me unusally long to realize she was holding an umbrella. I saw her left arm down much more prominently, but almost too much- making the right arm simply disappear from my reality of the painting. Note though that I DID notice the umbrella. I simply thought it was 'flying in the wind of the storm.'

Next I notice the simplicity and smoothness of what's behind this woman. The people in the street, the buildings and wind-blown rain. I like this. It's so simple but still draws me in, making me want to stare calmly at it like ocean waves. Beautiful.

Wait... A man...?

Ooooooooooh, now I see. Before I noticed the man in the middle, I thought this painting was of a woman dancing in the rain. But no, it's much different now. I like this idea much more... but one thing is bothering me, why did it take me so long to notice this man? He is very shadowed in comparison to the woman he is lifting up, but because of this he seemed to get 'lost in the rain.'

My attention takes me back to the detailed droplets. Now what I originally fell in love with about this picture is slightly wavered. The droplets seem to take so much of the initial impact of this painting, that the rest of the beautiful image is simply beginning to wash away.

All in all I adore the idea of this picture, as I am a hopeless romantic and have a love for dark, beautiful paintings such as this one. I do think that if the two main characters of this painting were done in more careful detail they'd recieve more of the impact that they deserve.

Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

xo,

V

I love this, is quite different from your other pieces, but its still really well done. I really feel the emotion conveyed, and I truly admire the expression of the faces. I agree with someone who commented to add some little drops on the bottom black corner.

This is so absolutely fantastic... Incredible... INSPIRING! I think it is perfection how it is! The only thing I could possibly think of doing to this would be to maybe add a little something in the bottom right corner. I mean A LITTLE LITTLE something. My eye is constantly drawn to the massive amount of BLACK. Its very right side bottom heavy right now. I think A few drops of water down in that corner would bring the composition together perfectly. And let the eye move around the piece better. I cant wait to see what you end up doing to this! GOOD LUCK

The water is already looking really great, but I know what you mean about losing patience with details while you're painting. I take a break when I stop enjoying working on a project.

You might like the drops and trails more if you make them higher contrast, but as I'm sure you've already heard plenty of times, they already look very real.

Beautiful work altogether, the scene in the background is sweet. The longer I look at it, the more I see that I didn't notice right away.

Beautiful! The trails of dripping water are very well done. I wonder if you used photos and real images to paint the droplets from, because it's very accurate. Even so, just the scene behind it all is wonderful on its own. I can't wait to see the completed version.
I really love the contrast of the sharp, clear raindrops and the smooth, blended background. Also, is the girl holding the umbrella? I can't tell, but maybe that's just the unfinished part, like the bottom right corner. I loved it! Very inspiring and gorgeous, there's so many layers to it. :)

This art is amazing. The blurriness of the background gives it a sense of fog or mist. The water drops are spectacular. Just a fantastic job!

Looks great. If you're looking to add some more, maybe put in some condensation along the sides of the image to simulate the effects of moisture.

the dancers look like a sketch to me. the drops are so good, that i don't know what you should change esp the lower ones are really good. i don't know how realistic the backscene should look, at the moment it is to me like a painting behinde a weg frame what is quite surreal to me as everything is painted :D
