Devastatingly beautiful. That's all that needs to be said on this. Everything about it is strikingly original. The composition, the lighting and tones. They're all so dusty and familiar, as if this was sitting on the shelf of one of my old professors. The entire concept is something I have not yet seen, particularly the arrow through the entwined lovers. For me it emanates many of the beautiful and sad truths of loving somebody; how they capture you irrevocably, keeping you alive and taking everything from you because you can't help but want to give it.
The use of the rose seems like a reverse of symbolism. Are they trying only to sustain the life of the love and rose for the sake of love, or perhaps their love is as poisonous as infatuation? In whichever way you take it, the heart-wrenching emotion this piece portrays leaves it as memorable as a first kiss.
