this is extremely well captured. I found myself looking at it more than a second and third time to try and see for sure if it is really a photograph or if there were any clues that it might be a rendering of some sort.
It is good use of good equipment and i would love to know more about the equipment.
there is very sharp detail on a wing which moves so quickly in realtime that it is practically invisible to the human eye. so this is a very fast exposure, and still doesnt seem to have a much reduced depth of field nor is it under exposed at all and i am used to one of these things being a trade-off in a macro of this nature.
suddenly i consider that my last thought was nonsense, because i am in no way used to seeing images like this. Maybe i just havent been keeping up with the times but i think its extremely rare to see a the variables come together so perfectly as they did here. the light, the light, its everywere. shining right into the beetle's crotches, with what looks like only the tiniest hint of over exposure in the very brightest 'shiniest' parts of the picture, and even that looks more like a glare than any 'normal' actual over exposure. the composition is good too. and i love how it lets one have to look a bit more into those fantastic details before you can even see what is going on
